Another form of bulling a kid I would guess.
The real perps are those that perpetuate this supposed nonsense. They’re the ones that s/b investigated by the police and thrown out of school.
They were not rumours and not unfounded. The students at RHS have known about this person wanting to shoot other school on his 18th birthday. The student was was in school today sans a backpack… because not having a backpack will prevent someone from shooting others
Did you read the latest news? Are you a parent of one of the pranksters responsible for all this and trying to continue to spread lies?
Read tonight’s news – the kid’s innocent and half this town was ready to hang him.
They still are . Read the lynch mob lunacy posted in Ridgewood Moms & Dads With Free Speech
I tried but couldn’t find it. Did they delete the thread?
Whether this incident might be as a result of a present student being bullied over the years, and/or some student having a mental health issue or even a series of fake social media postings, the fact remains that RHS is an open campus without adequate security measures at door entrances to ensure the highest level of safety for the school’s student and staff population. Although It might be unpopular to some in the community, the most effective barrier against a gun incident occurring inside the buildings is to install metal detectors at all school entry points. To those that say RHS is this ideal safe campus within this ideal suburban community I say you are living in a fantasyland. RHS is no different than any other high school in a large inner city urban environment as all are faced with similar concerns that social media and the rising tide of the negative effects that bulling has wrought to young vulnerable students. Don’t believe me, just ask the many local child psychiatrists that find their offices overwhelmed with local kids and their parents seeking help in these chaotic times.
100% in agreement. I had to keep my kid at home today just as I was about to drive to GW when I saw the post in FB. I wanted to play it safe. RHS in particular seems really vulnerable when it comes to security. Metal detectors should be in every school. I do not care what some la la land parents think. Security is of paramount importance and we live in a society which is very vulnerable and fragile mentally.
Children cant fight at school anymore so they have a lot of pent-up frustrations.
Fear is good business these days
open campus also allows students to sneak out and engage in stupid activities – I am surprised we are not seeing more pregnancy reports from RHS.
How many students are going to shoot up the school on “their” 18th birthday ?
No money for purified water in the schools and no money for extra school resource officers. But, artificial turf and lights are no problem.
It seems obvious that kids are under a lot of pressure these days. They have homework, sports or extra curricular activities and other things occupying their time like being friendships and navigating an awkward time through puberty. Social media doesn’t help matters and having adults either not paying attention to them or micro managing every aspect of their day, it can be a lot. Anxiety and depression are real. Parents and educators should be laser focused on how to address and identify where problems might be occurring. This doesn’t happen in a vacuum. If you see something, say something, before it is too late.
suck it up.
