RIDGEWOOD, NJ — The Village of Ridgewood is preparing for a high-turnout Village Council Meeting this Wednesday, January 14, at 7:30 PM. With critical votes scheduled for zoning ordinances related to state-mandated affordable housing, local officials have expanded seating and participation options to accommodate the community.
As New Jersey towns navigate the “Fourth Round” of affordable housing obligations, this meeting represents a pivotal moment for Ridgewood’s zoning future and local development landscape.
Meeting Logistics: Where to Go
Due to the anticipated crowd, the Village has arranged for overflow space and hybrid participation to ensure every resident has the opportunity to witness the proceedings.
-
Primary Location: The Courtroom, 4th Floor of Village Hall (131 N. Maple Ave).
-
Overflow Seating: Once the courtroom reaches capacity, residents will be directed to the Senior Lounge on the first floor.
-
Live Stream: The overflow room will feature a live Zoom broadcast of the meeting.
How to Participate and Comment
Whether you are attending in person or watching from home, there are several ways to make your voice heard during the public comment portion:
1. In-Person Comments
If you are seated in the Senior Lounge but wish to speak directly to the Council (rather than via Zoom), you may proceed to the 4th-floor courtroom during the public comment section of the meeting.
2. Virtual Participation (Zoom)
For those who prefer to attend remotely, Zoom access is available for all Village Council meetings.
-
Link Info: The Zoom link and meeting ID are located at the top of the official Meeting Agenda on the Village website.
-
To Speak: Use the “Raise Hand” feature in Zoom. When called upon, your audio will be broadcast into the courtroom for the Council and public to hear.
What’s at Stake? Affordable Housing & Zoning
The Council is expected to vote on ordinances that will align Ridgewood with the New Jersey Fair Housing Act requirements for the 2025–2035 period. These decisions impact:
-
Zoning Overlays: Potential changes to downtown districts and senior housing zones.
-
Development Density: Establishing how many units per acre are permitted in specific areas of the Village.
-
Community Character: Balancing state mandates with the preservation of Ridgewood’s unique “village” feel.

vote with Paterson, be like Paterson
Yes, this is the sad reality now. And arrived at this realization through “rugged individualism.”
Think for yourself , do your own research, consider both sides and you’ll find this to be true as well.
welcome to Queens
Well you all voted for Murphy who dictated this followed up by Sherill who is no moderate. Your vote wil ruin this village and reduce our property values
Over 7,000 Ridgewood voters, 63% of all voters cast, voted for this when the cast their vote for Mikie Sherrill…..enjoy!
as the deputy mayor said months ago “this is a done deal”…..and as the mayor said months ago “we have to do this”
I wonder if Paulie will have prewritten questions for Matt Rogers to answer.
I’ve seen this dog and pony show before.
‘Ridgewood’s unique Village feel”
Yea Right. That was 30 years ago.
Your going to get EXACTLY what you voted for
Large high density senior development along with affordable housing.
Think Valley hospital. Audrey can’t wait to build a monstrosity to stick it to the NIMBY’s
who ran he rout of town. Pass the popcorn.
To the mayor, council and manager, I know we had some snow that has all been pretty much melted. But you think you could have the leaf crew clean up the leaves under the train trestle coming around the bend. It’s filthy.
Excuse me thumbs down , why is it so filthy full leave still ,all the snow has been melted aren’t you guys sweeping? We just can’t understand this no excuse. Where is supervision, where is the superintendent Director manager mayor council they gotta be seeing this. What a disgrace, embarrassing, and for you individual putting thumbs down you better get your eyes checked you fool.
So when is the new Director of Dpw taken over.
This individual that keeps on putting thumbs down. We know who you are, we are fighting for the taxpayers of the Village Of Ridgewood so they can quality service. Obviously you’re against that.
The taxpayers of the Village Of Ridgewood request the rest of the leaves to be picked up this week. Enough is enough. We understand it’s Snow her on top of the leaves. This could’ve been avoided if leaf cruise were working on Sundays too. The village has enough money to pay overtime. I’m sure they can get a small crew to work on Sundays. Just in case employees would like to go to church. We respect that, OK thank you
