RIDGEWOOD, NJ — The Ridgewood Public School District is urging residents to stay away from Ridge Elementary School and the Glen School this summer while important construction projects are underway.
In a message to families, the district explained that these upgrades are part of an ongoing effort to improve school facilities for students and staff. However, the nature of the construction work has created unsafe conditions around the school grounds, including:
✅ Debris and loose building materials
✅ Heavy construction vehicles and machinery
✅ Restricted areas with potential hazards
For everyone’s safety, the district stressed that walking, playing, or visiting these school grounds is strictly prohibited until construction is completed before the start of the new school year.
🛑 Important Safety Reminder for Residents
-
Avoid school grounds completely during construction.
-
Keep children and pets away from the area—it is not a safe play space.
-
Respect posted signs and barriers around the work zones.
“These projects will ultimately enhance the learning environment for our students,” the district said. “But during construction, the sites are not safe for community use, and we appreciate your cooperation in keeping everyone out of harm’s way.”
✅ When Will Construction Be Finished?
The district anticipates that all construction will be completed by the start of the new school year in September. Families and community members will receive additional updates as the projects near completion.
🏫 Commitment to Safer, Better Schools
The improvements at Ridge Elementary and Glen School are part of Ridgewood’s commitment to providing modern, safe, and effective learning spaces for students. Once finished, the schools will benefit from upgraded facilities designed to better support education and community needs.

Prisons
Glen would be the ideal place for a sports complex. So much unused land and barely any trees.
