>Ridgewood Station: Construction Project Update January 2011 – Ticket Office is Now Open

As of January 2011, station improvements continue at Ridgewood Station with project completion expected in late summer 2011.

The ADA compliant restrooms, upgraded waiting room and ticket agent office are now open. A ticket agent is available weekdays between 5 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

When completed, the project will bring the station into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and improve the functionality of the station. Work on both the center island platform and the elevators are scheduled to be completed late summer 2011 when Ridgewood Station will be fully accessible.

Please be aware that Ridgewood Station is NOT accessible to customers with disabilities at this time. Customers requiring an accessible station should use Ramsey Route 17 Station instead.

In 2011, customers can expect to see the following construction activity:

Center island platform and canopy
Platform lighting and public address systems
Variable Messaging Screens with real-time train departures and announcements
Landscaping of Garber Square Park
Activation of elevators at the end of project
Closure of outbound low-level platform
Installation of etched glass panels in center island platform shelters
Paving and restriping of the Garber Square commuter parking lot
Franklin Avenue sidewalk closed through summer 2011
Continuing through summer 2011, the Franklin Avenue sidewalk under the railroad overpass will be closed for ongoing long-term construction work the Franklin Avenue Bridge. In addition, one lane of Franklin Avenue (normally used for right turns onto North Broad Street) will be closed intermittently to vehicular traffic. During this time, NJ TRANSIT will install two new elevators and make stairway improvements. Customers who use the Franklin Avenue underpass should use the pedestrian tunnel at the south end of the station to access North Broad Street, Wilsey Square and Garber Square.

For your safety, please obey all posted signs and do not travel through barricaded areas.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we work to improve Ridgewood Station. NJ TRANSIT will continue to keep customers updated on the progress of the project.
