Goofus at Travell….
Details please.

This could get interesting…

Wow! Someone makes a “threat” in these super charged times, they should be jailed and investigated. Does the man own guns. REDLINE or whatever TIMES we are in. Is the man a potential terrorist. We always read of disgruntled angry people who make threats later coming back on a shooting spree with an AR 15.
Why so soft the consequences for this man. I mean the school is hiring police to protect the kids from gun violence and now that there is a real, crazy threat over RECESS in an ELEMENTARY school and someone goes berserk and threatens the principal and he is told : Don’t come back anymore. Hey, this is scary. Only in Ridgewood, where you steel a million quarters from parking meters and the next month you are seen in town working on a job. And you get no jail time.
ha! just wait. in a few years the parent will run for council and get their kids some choice lifetime employment. those that don’t learn from history are bound to repeat it.
Does the man own a gun you ask ? He’s on disability retirement from NYPD. Yes, he owns a gun.
What’s that I smell?
Oh right….
It smells like… lawsuit.
We need more facts here. Apparently, the gentleman received a “lifetime ban” from entering the school property for “confronting” the principal. What does this mean? And, is that even legal since his tax dollars are spent financing not only the school but also the teachers and principal?!?
Did the parent confront the principal with a weapon? If so, a lifetime ban is certainly justified. Did he get into a shouting match with the principal? If so, I’d argue that the principal lacks the emotional intelligence to hold that role in the first place (since he/she should have had the sense to deescalate the issue). If it was, indeed, a simple shouting match, then a “lifetime ban” is absurd (and may also unlawfully violate the parent’s rights).
The lawsuit will sort out all of these issues. If the parent prevails in the suit, then the principal needs to be fired immediately.
Please………….
What rights might have been violated? He was banned from the school.
We need to understand the facts. You can’t “ban” someone because you don’t like what the person said to you (particularly when that person PAYS for the school and the salaries/benefits of its staff). If the parent physically threatened the principal, then the “ban” is justified. We need facts…
This was an incident that involved the principal, a parent and the police. The superintendent in his judgment determined the parent needed to be banned from the school grounds. Taxes have nothing to do with it.
Would be great to ban Fishbein from Ridgewood schools as well !
I hear the parents kids were banned from school as well and have to go to school out of district. If so, how can you ban the kids for the parents behavior? If so, Fishbein gonna lose his shirt on this and should get fired to waste our tax money on a lawsuit like this.
Wait! They kids have to go to school out of district? If that’s the case (and assuming Fishbein made that decision), then the parents have a POWERFUL LAWSUIT. Ridgewood is going to have a difficult time defending that one. And, Fishbein will be sweeping streets when this is over (assuming he can get a job doing so). Just sayin’…
This incident was detailed in the Bergen Record. Unfortunately, the paper’s online edition classified it as “for subscribers only,” so few can read it, unless they can locate the print version. No other NJ website carried the story. Since when should news be available to only the select few; namely, those willing to pay for it? Information should be free, but these days, it’s all about digital advertising bucks.
