RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A serious early-morning collision at a busy Village intersection sent a family of three to the hospital on Friday, February 6, 2026.
The “T-bone” style accident occurred around 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of Linwood Avenue and Northern Parkway, a location frequently cited by local residents for heavy commuter traffic.
Crash Details: Stop Sign Violation Reported
According to Ridgewood Police, a mother, father, and their 10-year-old child were traveling eastbound on Linwood Avenue in an Infiniti MX35X 4-door sedan. Their vehicle was struck broadside by a Kia SUV that was traveling northbound on Northern Parkway.
Ridgewood Police Captain Glenn Ender confirmed that the driver of the Kia failed to yield the right of way or stop at the intersection. A summons was issued to the Kia driver for failure to stop or yield.
Emergency Response and Injuries
First responders arrived quickly to find both vehicles with heavy structural damage.
-
The Victims: All three family members in the Infiniti were treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital.
-
Condition Update: Fortunately, police report that the injuries sustained by the family are considered non-life-threatening.

The Other Driver: The driver of the Kia SUV refused medical attention at the scene.
The rescue effort was a multi-agency collaboration including the Ridgewood Police Department, Ridgewood Fire Department/EMS, and The Valley Hospital EMS.
Intersection Safety: A Growing Concern
The intersection of Linwood Avenue and Northern Parkway has seen multiple incidents over the years, ranging from pedestrian accidents to high-impact collisions. Both heavily damaged vehicles involved in Friday’s crash had to be towed from the scene by local recovery services.
Ridgewood Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 47 and the Village’s traffic safety division continue to urge motorists to exercise extreme caution during the early morning “rush hour” window, especially at residential-to-commuter transition points.
