THE RIDGEWOOD NEWS

Ridgewood will be cracking down on property owners and contractors who violate the village’s snow removal policies, including those that require timely sidewalk maintenance and prevent private plowing into public roadways.

Local authorities stepped up enforcement on Feb. 21, but acting Village Manager Heather Mailander said last Wednesday night that regulations will be heavily enforced going forward. She said that summonses will be issued for all offenses, and in some cases, vehicles left in public streets during a snowstorm may be towed.

A lack of resources isn’t the only thing that has contributed to Ridgewood’s winter woes – in some cases, private property owners and plowing contractors might be to blame for some messy roadways.

  1. Never happen!

  2. I can’t wait for summer. This will all be a memory

  3. I can’t figure out why some throw or use a snow blower to put snow into the street when they can just as easily shovel or blow it onto their grass.

  4. Easy ticket at Phantom Motorsports every time it snows. Unless that guy is protected, and I’m convinced he is.

  5. Van emburgh funeral home put a HUGE pile on the street. Very hazardous. Maybe they will get some business from that hazard.

  6. Thanks Van Emburgh, for all those convenient parking spaces you provide. And for the time I need an unscheduled haircut across the street and making final arrangements for my pending wake.

  7. Isn’t this “crack down” a little late in the season? We might not get any more snow.

  8. Is PSEG or the county responsible responsible for the sidewalk over Hohokus Brook, nead the high school? They took almost a week to shovel. The sidewalk was not passable on a busy stretch of Ridgewood Ave.

  9. Lets put the ‘report an ordinance violation’ on the same APP as the potholes.
We can report sidewalks that way that aren’t shoveled.

  10. what about a app for shit heads blowing snow into the road.

  11. And still the Christmas trees and Fall leaves remain….

  12. The app to report snow shoveling violations would be helpful, but I am afraid that the system would crash. There are a lot of residents who would be waiting at their windows for the opportunity to report their neighbors.

Well if the neighbors who are so inconsiderate and didn’t give a crap about anyone else did the right thing (clear sidewalks) they wouldn’t have to worry about being ‘reported’.

  14. Ridgewood Village Hall should get ticket #1. Their incompetence at snow removal is only rivaled by their incompetence at leaf removal, Christmas tree removal and garbage pick up. There is still a snow bank that takes out an entire lane of Dayton St by Maple Ave.

  15. How about Cottage place by pucciaellis house. It’s a one lamer due to bad plowing.
