RIDGEWOOD, NJ — At the July 10 Village Council Meeting, Ridgewood officials formally proclaimed July as Disability Pride Month and Parks and Recreation Month, recognizing the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and the vital role community recreation plays in enhancing local life.
However, not all residents were celebrating. One speaker pointed out the irony of the proclamation, citing a lack of accessible parking during Ridgewood’s July 4th celebration. The resident emphasized that if the Village truly aims to be disability-forward, meaningful actions—like ensuring event accessibility—must follow symbolic gestures.
Community Recognition and Honors
The Council also took time to honor notable community members for their service and accomplishments:
-
Charles DiMarco was recognized for his many years of dedication on the Citizens Safety Advisory Committee, contributing to safer streets and traffic planning for Ridgewood residents.
-
Luke Pash, Ridgewood High School Class of 2025, was honored as the 2025 Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Pash, widely regarded as Bergen County’s greatest distance runner, has not only excelled on the track but also brought pride to the community through his discipline and athleticism.
-
Coach Deirdre Tobin of Ridgewood High School received accolades as the Boys Tennis Coach of the Year, praised for her leadership, sportsmanship, and championship-level coaching that continues to elevate the school’s tennis program
🎗️ Proclamations & Local Pride
The Council’s proclamations align with a broader national movement to celebrate disability pride and reinvest in public parks and recreation, acknowledging the impact of inclusive spaces and adaptive services for all residents.

There are a lot of great things that happen in the village, but the credit doesn’t go to the Mayor or the council, it goes to the people that actually make things happen. Unfortunately, the mayor and council are not the people who really care about the residents because they are busy making plans that benefit the mayor, the council just doesn’t realize that they are entirely being controlled by the ultimate schemer, puppet master Paul.
Another virtue signalling flag to fly.
