RIDGEWOOD, NJ – Ridgewood officials, led by Village Manager Keith Kazmark, welcomed New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) Commissioner Zenon Christodoulou on Thursday for a productive meeting at Ridgewood Water Headquarters, followed by a tour of the Prospect PFAS Treatment Facility, which is scheduled to be operational this fall.

Discussions centered on Ridgewood Water’s ongoing efforts, including:

  • PFAS treatment system buildout

  • Distribution system improvements

  • Lead service line replacements

  • Water conservation initiatives

Kazmark noted that there are tangible opportunities for Ridgewood Water to partner with the NJBPU on future programs and customer incentives.

The NJBPU is the state agency responsible for overseeing regulated utilities across New Jersey, including water, electricity, natural gas, telecommunications, and cable television. Its mission is to ensure that residents receive safe, reliable services at reasonable rates while encouraging energy efficiency and consumer protection.

The agency also plays a quasi-judicial role, meaning it can handle cases and petitions from utilities, ratepayers, or the public. Public hearings often allow residents to weigh in on matters such as utility rates, infrastructure projects, and environmental impacts.

With the upcoming launch of the Prospect PFAS Treatment Facility, Ridgewood Water continues to strengthen its commitment to safe drinking water, modern infrastructure, and environmental responsibility.

  1. Did anyone ask the BPU Commissioner why my electric bill has skyrocketed?
