Ridgewood NJ , After more than a year of construction, Raymond’s opened in Ridgewood today, at the corner of Oak Street and East Ridgewood Avenue. The interior, above, looks much like the original location on Church Street in Montclair, where its has developed quite a following of fans for Saturdays and Sundays brunch.

Owners, Raymond Badach and Joanne Ricci, were originally planning a summertime opening for the Ridgewood location. The Ridgewood Raymond’s is a little larger than Raymond’s in Montclair, but has a similar look. This well-known retro Parisian brunch hangout is being designed by the same group behind the look of Balthazaar. In addition to breakfast and lunch, Raymond’s will be open for dinner and is kid-friendly.

The original Raymond’s was founded in 1989, when Raymond Badach opened his postage-stamp-size luncheonette on Church Street in Montclair, the focus was on coffee and coffee was just coffee and Montclair was not yet a mecca for New Yorkers.

The Ridgewood Raymond’s is open Mon. -Sat. 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Like the Montclair location, it is also BYOB.

  1. Anybody been? I guess I will wind up trying this place eventually but wanted to wait until they iron out the wrinkles. I love the pancake house but I would like to see a diner type place in town that offers maybe less food but of a higher quality…the type you’d find in NY or Philly.

Sorry, Daily Treat doesn’t do it for me.

    1. the french toast was a little different with a crust but light and fluffy inside, served with fresh fruit on top. an excellent choice. the omelettes provide (2) choices of fillings and a nice side of potatoes and 7 grain toast. the breakfast menu is limited in choices but i believe it allows for better quality foods to be served. the service was fine with many attentive wait staff readily available. the coffee is fresh brewed to order and was a little strong for me. the interior is a throw back style diner nicely decorated. definitely would return on a cloudy day because the sun glare is very bright if you are seated on the e. rwd side near the window.

  2. Thanks. Might give it a try this weekend. They should have opened sooner…like during the street fair in Sept. Golden oppty lost. I wonder why the construction took so long. Oh wait, I know why. I too have tried to get permits in this town. I too have stood at the counter like a good little plebe while two village workers finished a non work related conversation for three minutes before asking me what I was there for.

Place looks nice though so hopefully it was worth the wait.

  3. Way over priced!……………

  4. I’m sticking with the Treat. This place was overpriced and kind of cramped inside.

  5. The food was delicious, a bit pricy but worth treating my cousin to that was visiting from Arizona. The place was imaculate, the service very nice. The atmosphere was very plesant, you really almost felt like it was 1950. I would definately recommend Raymonds! Roseanne
