River Edge NJ, authorities are actively investigating a pre-dawn break-in at a popular local steakhouse. The burglary occurred around 2 a.m. on May 14 at Prime 259, located at 259 Johnson Avenue.
Surveillance Shows Suspects Breaking Through Rear Door
According to River Edge Police Chief Michael Walker, surveillance cameras captured multiple individuals breaking into the restaurant through a rear entrance. The suspects were dressed in black clothing and gloves, and were carrying tools used to force entry, including a hammer and screwdriver.
“Their identities weren’t immediately clear from the footage,” Walker stated.
Investigation Ongoing — No Stolen Items Reported Yet
As of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, the suspects were still at large, and investigators continue to review surveillance evidence. Despite the forced entry, no stolen items or proceeds have been reported at this time.
Chief Walker noted that the restaurant owners have not returned calls, and a voicemail left with Prime 259 has not yet been answered.
Local Business Targeted But Quick Police Response Underway
This incident has raised concerns among local residents and businesses, as break-ins of this nature are rare in the River Edge area. Police have not yet released descriptions beyond the suspects’ attire and tools, but are asking anyone with information to come forward.
