RIVER EDGE, NJ – Earlier today, the River Edge Volunteer Fire Department, alongside Battalion 9, responded to a reported hazardous materials incident on the 700 block of Sixth Avenue in a residential garage.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered multiple unstable chemicals that posed a potential danger to the surrounding area.
Multi-Agency Hazmat Response
Due to the seriousness of the situation, additional resources were requested, including:
✅ New Milford Hazmat Team
✅ Bergen County Hazmat Unit
✅ Bergen County Bomb Squad
The River Edge Volunteer Ambulance Service was also on-site, ready to provide medical support if needed.
Quick Action Prevents Danger
Thanks to the rapid, coordinated efforts of all responding units, the hazardous materials were safely contained and removed without any injuries or further incident.
Once the scene was secured, it was turned back over to the homeowner.
