Hawthorne NJ, a prohibited heavy truck barreled down Fairview Avenue this morning, culminating in a dramatic crash at the intersection of Fairview and Goffle Hill Road in Hawthorne, NJ.
The incident, which occurred early Wednesday morning, 10/29, saw a large dump truck, heading downhill, lose control and crash after the driver failed to stop the vehicle. Despite clear posted signs prohibiting heavy vehicles from using the road, the truck proceeded, leading to the calamity.

Fortunately, the driver was able to self-extricate and was uninjured, and no other vehicles were involved. However, the scene was one of chaos, with a heavily loaded utility pole completely obliterated in the collision.
Hawthorne Fire Department was on the scene, using dry chemical extinguishers to quickly snuff out a small blaze sparked by the downed live electric wires. PSE&G Electric Division crews have been called to the area and are working to replace the destroyed pole and restore electric service. Wired communication services in the vicinity may also be affected by the damage.

The dump trucks come from the quarry in North Haledon.
The trees look nice right now.
