Fair Lawn NJ, Saddle River Road northbound in Fair Lawn, stretching from Red Mill Road to Route 4, has been closed since Tuesday due to a sinkhole that developed in the roadway, according to local officials.
Despite the closure, the right-turn lane from Saddle River Road to eastbound Red Mill Road remains open, as well as Saddle River Road southbound and the exit ramp from Route 4 eastbound.
Authorities have not provided an estimate for when the road will reopen. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and anticipate delays in the surrounding area.
Construction crews continued working on Wednesday to address the sinkhole, although the cause of the issue remains unknown.
According to the borough ,“Saddle River Road northbound from Red Mill Road to Route 4 will be closed effective immediately due to a sink hole that has developed within the roadway. The right turn lane from Saddle River Road to eastbound Red Mill Rd will remain open. Saddle River Road from the Route 4 East exit ramp and southbound will remain open.”
