Following Governor Chris Christie’s endorsement of Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, the blowback has been considerable from Christie’s own party.   1. Doherty’s right. Establishment republicans in NJ are determined to get their pound of flesh, in advance, to compensate in at least some small way for what appears to be on the horizon, that is, woodshed time for them! Christie might have been expected to toe the establishment party line, as his political career has been a beneficiary of largess from establishment-type republicans to get him where he is today. His huggy-bear antics with Obama were a fine example of classic establishment Republican behavior. The fact that Christie has so abruptly removed himself from establishment Republican ranks and fallen in with Trump Nation is leaving establishment Republicans reeling and they are now lashing out in desperation, trying to send a signal to any other politicians of similar significance to nit follow Christie’s lead. Christie may have serious flaws but give the devil his due: he is a formidable campaigner.
