Seniors learned the best ways to contribute time and experience to their communities during the latest program in Bergen Community College’s (BCC) Seniors in Suburbia series.
The BCC Suburban Studies Group and the Village of Ridgewood Community Center came together last week to host the event, which discussed how seniors can best spend their time and find meaningful activities in their communities. The program looked at ways seniors can become involved in their towns and find satisfaction.
“Being a senior citizen is not for sissies. You’re confronting a new way of life,” said Philip Dolce, BCC head of Social Sciences. “When you were 13 and your mother or father said, ‘What do you want to be?,’ you had to have an answer. I have news for you: When you’re a senior citizen, they’re asking, ‘What do you want to do with the rest of your life?’ It takes courage.”

At BCC seniors can audit classes that are not full -I think for free.
