Ridgewood can save as much as $49 an hour by selecting a vendor through the normal bidding process rather than defer to the state-approved contractors list for the village’s Toshiba phone system service.
The Village Council will consider a resolution next month to award its telephone system maintenance and troubleshooting service contract to Pompton Plains-based Entel Systems, the sole responder to Ridgewood’s recent solicitation for bids. Based on Entel’s bid package, Dylan Hansen, director of IT services, and Village Engineer Chris Rutishauser have recommended the contract.
According to Village Manager Ken Gabbert, a second firm previously expressed interest in the contract but declined to submit a formal bid package. As part of their reasoning, American Business Communications Services officials stated that a portion of the requirements were “way too restrictive and not industry norm.”

Interesting…..I thought we were suppose to be getting good service at a good price with Riche’s company. Looks like we were getting the same service that a bull gives to a cow with Riche’s company.
Well, well, well, I can’t wait to hear what those residents who stood up to defend Riche have to say now that we know Riche’s company wasn’t the best deal we could find. Get ready to hear the many excuses as to why the new company is not good.
Remember folks, there were several documented instances in which Riche did not charge for service provided. Also, although the authorized state contract rate was higher than the bid award rate, did Riche always charge the Village the maximum rate?
