Fort Lee NJ, a serious safety incident unfolded Tuesday morning at Fort Lee High School, where a stabbing involving two students led to a full school lockdown and a large-scale police response.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, police were called to the high school at 10:52 a.m. following a distress radio call from an officer assigned to the campus. Upon arrival, authorities found that a male juvenile student had been stabbed multiple times inside the school building.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and was listed in critical but stable condition by early afternoon, according to Jeff Angermeyer, Deputy Chief of Detectives.

The alleged attacker, also a juvenile student, was apprehended at the scene and taken into custody. Authorities have not released the names of the individuals involved due to their ages.

Superintendent Robert Kravitz confirmed the stabbing in a letter sent to families and staff, stating that the school entered lockdown to allow for a full investigation. The letter, which was widely shared on social media, emphasized that there was no ongoing threat to the school community.

Law enforcement from Fort Lee, neighboring jurisdictions, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office responded swiftly. Authorities closed off Lemoine Avenue in front of the high school, and a heavy police presence was visible throughout the day.

“Please avoid the area while the preliminary investigation is underway,” said Angermeyer. “More details will be released when possible.”

  1. Fort Lee can’t take a joke? Let me tell it again.

And when Ridgewood wanted a school safety officer on site to prevent just such occurrences, you all laughed.

    1. What is needed at all these schools are metal detectors.

    2. How would a school safety officer have prevented such an occurrence? Is each student provided with one? Come on man.

  2. I’m all for security at every school.
