Paramus NJ, The holiday season kicked off with a heartwarming display of community spirit in Paramus, NJ, as the local Police and Fire Departments partnered with Stew Leonard’s for the grocery chain’s annual Thanksgiving food drive.

On November 13th, the Stew Leonard’s parking lot became a hub of holiday generosity as uniformed officers and firefighters delivered hundreds of turkeys directly into the vehicles of various organizations dedicated to supporting families in need across Bergen and Passaic Counties.

Serving the Community When It Needs It Most

This year’s drive was particularly crucial. According to Blake Leonard, who operates the tri-state area stores, the distribution was vital due to the recent government shutdown, which left many families grappling with lost and delayed SNAP benefits.

  • Total Turkeys: Over 300 turkeys were distributed from the Paramus location alone.
  • Reach: The turkeys were divided among 14 organizations across Bergen and Passaic Counties.

Stew Leonard’s stores across the Northeast participated, distributing thousands of turkeys throughout the tri-state area. The Paramus store has faithfully kept this tradition alive since opening in 2019.

Organizations Receiving Support

The impact of the event will be felt widely across Northern New Jersey and beyond, ensuring hundreds of families have a centerpiece for their Thanksgiving meal. Participating organizations included:

  • Mom’s Food Pantry in Bergenfield
  • Hoboken Community Center Pantry
  • St. Peter’s in River Edge
  • Miracle Center in Paterson

The collaboration between local law enforcement, fire services, and Stew Leonard’s underscores a powerful commitment to community welfare during a time when food security is a major concern for many.
