STORM MESSAGE: RIDGEWOOD SCHOOLS DELAYED OPENING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 9

Ridgewood NJ, MONDAY AT 5:30 A.M.: Due to winter conditions, the Ridgewood Public Schools will have a DELAYED OPENING  on Monday, February 9.  Under the delayed opening plan, the school day will begin two hours later than usual. School bus schedules will operate two hours later. The morning kindergarten will be canceled; the afternoon kindergarten will follow the regular hours (12:20-3 p.m.). Children in grades 1-5 who have not ordered lunches must bring a bag lunch to school. There will not be sufficient time for children to go home for lunch when there is a delayed opening.

  1. We are raising a generation that will think it cant get to work if there is a smattering of frozen water. Getting to school on a day like this is not hard, especially if you are walking. Get up early due to the prediction and get there.

    Fast forward 15 years and companies will have to close for slush because employees will have no idea how to get to work when there is inclement weather.

  2. I’m curious about this hair-trigger reaction to inclement weather, whereby our schools are either closed or have delayed openings. I grew up in a different continent, where I don’t recall a single school day ever being effected, despite memories of occasional blizzards. So, my question to fellow bloggers is, have we always had this kind of namby-pamby approach to what should be fully expected, WINTER?
