That’s right, spam isn’t just annoying… It’s a major pollutant. In fact, spam emails are responsible for 29.7 million metric tons of CO2e emissions each year!

- The amount of annual emissions caused by total spam sent worldwide is equivalent to the electricity it takes to power 5,773,903 homes for a year.
- Spam email is responsible for more annual emissions than entire countries: Denmark (25.71 mil metric tons), Dominican Republic (29.09 million tons), Syria (25.57 million tons), Cuba (22.94 million tons), Lebanon (26.77 million tons), Croatia (17.7 million tons), and many other countries.
