Hackensack NJ,Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of KELISEN O. BREWLEY (DOB: 12/26/88; single; unemployed) of 547 Maple Avenue, Teaneck, NJ on charges of Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer In Charge Captain Peter Busciglio.
On January 26, 2020, the Hackensack Police Department received a 911 call reporting that a stabbing occurred at 240 Anderson Street, Apt. 6G. Upon arrival, Hackensack officers found Vanden L. Carter (DOB: 07/16/89) of 240 Anderson Street, Apt. 6G, lying on the floor in the apartment with multiple stab wounds to his torso. The victim was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 10:49 p.m. Shortly thereafter, the Hackensack Police Department was notified of another stabbing victim, KELISEN O. BREWLEY, who had been treated at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ.
The ensuing investigation revealed that the victim and KELISEN O. BREWLEY were acquaintances and had been together in the apartment when the two engaged in an altercation. During the altercation, a third party attempted to intercede and was also assaulted by BREWLEY with a knife.
KELISEN O. BREWLEY was arrested on January 27, 2020 in Teaneck, NJ and charged with one count each of Manslaughter, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-4b, a 2nd degree crime; and Aggravated Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(3), a 4th degree crime.
KELISEN O. BREWLEY was remanded the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Hackensack and Teaneck Police Departments for their assistance in this investigation.
