East Rutherford NJ, Something big is happening at 2 Meadowlands Plaza. A landmark 21-story hotel in East Rutherford is undergoing a massive, $100 million metamorphosis, trading its traditional corporate identity for a bold new concept: World of Blue.

Designed to be much more than just a place to sleep, this independent destination is racing toward a June grand opening—perfectly timed to welcome the world for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The May Shutdown: Preparing for the World Stage

To facilitate the final, most intensive phase of the renovation, the hotel (formerly the Park Hotel, and previously a Hilton and Sheraton) will officially close for the month of May 2026.

  • April 2026: Last call for stays under the current configuration.

  • May 2026: Full closure for rapid-fire interior and infrastructure updates.

  • June 2026: The grand unveiling of World of Blue, just days before the first whistle blows at MetLife Stadium.

What is “World of Blue”?

Owned by P3 Properties and led by CEO Harvey Rosenblatt, World of Blue is a “non-flag” hotel, meaning it isn’t tied to the rigid rules of big-box franchises like Hilton or Marriott. This freedom allows the property to create a “brand ecosystem” featuring:

  • Unrivaled Views: The name pays homage to the Hudson River, the tidal waterways of the Meadowlands, and the blue hues of the iconic NYC skyline.

  • Modernized Infrastructure: A total overhaul of HVAC systems, elevators, and a comprehensive interior “modernization.”

  • A Hub for Events: With over 30,000 square feet of ballroom and meeting space, the hotel is positioning itself as the premier venue for weddings, corporate conventions, and global soccer galas.

“We’re building something designed to last well beyond a single event… the World Cup created urgency around what the Meadowlands can become, and what East Rutherford deserves.”Harvey Rosenblatt, CEO of P3 Properties

The World Cup Connection

With MetLife Stadium hosting eight matches—including the highly anticipated World Cup Final on July 19, 2026—World of Blue is the closest major hotel to the action.

Jim Kirkos, President of the Meadowlands Chamber, views this as a “once-in-a-generation” pivot for the local economy. The redevelopment isn’t just about the 427 guest rooms; it’s about creating a “global event hub” that will serve the region for decades after the trophy is raised.
