There’s a “will” and a way in Ridgewood, and right now, that “Will” is Sophomore winger Will LoSauro

Ridgewood NJ, after a historic week on the ice, North Jersey Media has officially named LoSauro the Male Athlete of the Week, presented by HSS. But if you ask the young star, he’ll tell you the secret to his success isn’t just his skating—it’s the sibling chemistry shared with his older brother, AJ.

A Scoring Machine: Five-Goal Games and Overtime Thrillers

Will LoSauro is having a season for the record books. Ridgewood head coach Mike Lucchesi, who has led the Maroons for 17 years, noted that Will is only the fourth player in program history to net five goals in a single game.

His recent tear includes:

  • Dec 29: A career-best 5-goal performance against St. Joseph (Metuchen).

  • Dec 31: A high-stakes overtime game-winner against rival Ramapo.

  • Jan 2: A dramatic goal with just 1:08 remaining to upset powerhouse Bergen Catholic in the County Quarterfinals.

“Playing with my brother is pretty fun,” Will said. “He’s always finding me, so it’s pretty easy playing with him.”

The Brother Dynamic: AJ & Will LoSauro

The Maroons are currently off to a blistering 10-1 start, largely fueled by the top line of AJ LoSauro, Will LoSauro, and senior center Christian McCarthy.

The statistics (as of Jan. 5) speak for themselves:

  • AJ LoSauro (Senior): 19 Goals, 19 Assists

  • Will LoSauro (Sophomore): 18 Goals, 13 Assists

Coach Lucchesi says their impact goes beyond the box score. “They are both determined competitors. They have this will and desire to win, and it’s pretty remarkable.” While AJ is committed to Penn State for Lacrosse, Will is focused on seeing how far his hockey dreams can take him.

Chasing Ridgewood History

Despite being the first Ridgewood hockey player to earn The Record’s Athlete of the Week honor, Will has his eyes on a bigger prize: A State Championship.

After falling just short in the NJSIAA final last year, the Maroons are playing with a chip on their shoulder. Their recent win over Bergen Catholic—one of the few times in program history—proves that this team is ready for the big stage.

Upcoming Schedule: The Road to the Title

The Maroons are heading into a gauntlet of elite New Jersey hockey. Mark your calendars for the next big test:

  • Event: Bergen County Semifinals

  • Matchup: Ridgewood vs. Don Bosco (10-time champions)

  • Date: January 20, 2026
