Ridgewood NJ, After running an entire election campaign against  “incentive raises”  and grabbing the support of virtually every local media outlet except the Ridgewood blog , Mayor Aronsohn and his new regime vote for the “incentive raise ‘ for non union workers they vehemently opposed .

The council voted 4-1 on Wednesday night with Tom Riche the lone dissenter, to introduce an ordnance that establishes zero percent salary raises for non-union employees and department heads but provides “incentive increases” between 0 and 1.9 percent over 2012 and 2013 . “Incentive raises” were the major point of contention during the campaign , with the current Mayor opposed to them as did municipal unions who felt”Incentive raises” undermined their collective bargaining position. Local union also viewed the “Incentive raises” as and effort by Village Manager Ken Gabbert to rid the Village of those unions .

Gabbert was on the forefront of introducing incentives into the municipal work place and was widely criticized locally for doing so . The system was viewed as a threat to “good old boy” network that seems to often permeate the Village workforce . One look at all the last names of Village employees or a little research  into  who is related to who and you have the whole story.

Aronsohn was quick to tell the Glen Rock Patch “It seeks to establish a new standard – one that balances the needs of employees with the economic reality faced by the village,” Mayor Paul Aronsohn said in reference to the proposed ordinances. “Gone are the days of four percent salary increases.” https://ridgewood.patch.com/articles/village-may-issue-incentive-raises-to-managers-non-union-staff.

Yes Mayor times have certainly changed .

  1. so when will Gabbert get an apology form the Ridgewood news, the patch and the rest of you???

  2. funny to see Pauls’ mouth piece “the patch” try to down play this and still go after Richie

  3. so Pauls now a union buster ?

  4. to many inbreeds at Village Hall

  5. why I thought Aronsohn explicitly ran against “incentive pay”

  6. he was before it before he was against it lol

  7. nothing like making everyone in Ridgewood look like idiots

    1. They voted Aronsohn into office… they already are idiots.

  8. the police and fire dep,ts must take a pay freez.

  9. I hope you remember his words from last year. 0% incentive raise for dept heads and non union employees. This is just the beginning of the” Flip- Flop ” The Dream Team is spending money like a drunken sailor. You should also remember 0% property tax increase. The Mayor’s no vote for Valley Hospital. The Mayor no vote for teacher parking at the High School last year when he was a Councilman but yet he was apparently for it this time around saying he has new information. How about when he said he would get rid of the Village Manager immediately Well in case you haven’t noticed the Village Manager is still employed.

  10. are the incentive raises given to the non-union employees pensionable salary? if not the raises seem quite reasonable, as the village only pay’s once, it’s not the gift that keeps on giving such as a contract dictated pay raise for the union employees.
