Township of Washington J, the Township Theatre has implemented new admission rules for “A Minecraft Movie” following a vandalism incident involving a large group of unsupervised minors during a Friday night screening.
According to a statement posted by theater management on Facebook, a group of unaccompanied boys — believed to be from Waldwick — engaged in disruptive and damaging behavior, prompting complaints from multiple moviegoers and a swift policy change.
What Happened at the Township Theatre?
On Friday night, patrons attending a showing of the newly released “Minecraft Movie” reported that a group of teens were spraying lotion on seats, yelling out during the movie, and causing a general disturbance in the theater. Management described the actions as “completely unacceptable behavior, including vandalism.”
While the intent behind the lotion incident remains unclear, Facebook users connected to the boys claimed they had found the lotion in the theater before spraying it.
The incident has drawn attention online, with parents and community members expressing concern about unsupervised minors in public entertainment spaces.
New Movie Policy for ‘Minecraft Movie’ Screenings
In response to the disruption, Township Theatre has issued a new policy:
🔒 All minors wishing to attend “A Minecraft Movie” must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
❌ Unaccompanied groups of boys will not be admitted.
This change is aimed at ensuring a safe, respectful, and enjoyable moviegoing experience for families and other guests.
A Message to Parents and Guardians
Theater management urges parents to discuss the incident with their children if they were at the theater on Friday night.
“We strongly encourage parents to have a conversation with their sons about behavior and respect in public settings,” the Facebook post said.
Video footage of the incident has reportedly been obtained by the theater.
Why This Matters
Incidents like this underscore the importance of supervision and accountability in shared public spaces, especially those designed for families and children.
With the popularity of The Minecraft Movie drawing in younger audiences, Township Theatre’s move to enforce stricter policies reflects a growing concern among entertainment venues about maintaining order during high-attendance showings.
Township Theatre Remains Committed to Family-Friendly Entertainment
Despite the disruption, Township Theatre remains a popular local destination for movie lovers of all ages. Management emphasized its commitment to providing a welcoming and secure environment for everyone, and thanked the public for their support and understanding.

This nice milquetoast lecture should scare the living hell out of them.
Parents having a “conversation……………………………………………”
WASSSSSSSSSSSSF’d
Parents are the problem, so any “parental conversation” is a waste of time.
Everyone got a trophy.
And a result, the world gets moronic, annoying, soft, spoiled-brat kids who will be living with Mommy and Daddy until they’re 35 when they’re not annoying the public.
yup
Waldwick is becoming a mini Paterson. Just walk around for 5 mins and you’ll see.
you do realize that Washington Township is not in Waldwick, right ?
The kids were from Waldwick.
If you think Waldwick is bad now, you remember back in the 70s
Waldwick didn’t have the property taxes high enough to keep undesirables out. Ramsey’s are incredibly high so the town is safe.
These little shits need a strong punishment!
Thumbs down?
I hope the next time you’re out with your wife or kids at a movie or for a meal, you are surrounded by spoiled teenagers allowed to act like punks by their lame, indulgent parents.
Then again, I would lay 2-1 odds you’re the kind of guy who would be too scared to speak up.
And complaining to your therapist doesn’t count.
White boys acting out.
