NEW YORK, NY — In a tragedy that has shaken the financial and philanthropic communities, Wesley LePatner, a senior executive at Blackstone, was among four people killed during a mass shooting at 345 Park Avenue in Manhattan on Monday, July 29. The shooter, identified as Shane Tamura, 27, of Las Vegas, opened fire inside the midtown office building before taking his own life.
Who Was Wesley LePatner?
Wesley LePatner served as the Global Head of Core+ Real Estate and CEO of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT). She was described by Blackstone in a company-wide memo as:
“Brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond. Wesley embodied the very best of Blackstone.”
She leaves behind her husband, Evan LePatner, and two children, and was a cherished leader in both the corporate and Jewish philanthropic communities of New York City.
Shooting Details
The deadly shooting occurred at Blackstone’s Manhattan offices around 345 Park Avenue, which also houses high-profile tenants such as KPMG, the NFL, and Rudin Management. According to authorities:

Four people died, including LePatner and a New York Police Department officer.

The shooter, Shane Tamura, reportedly had a documented mental health history and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
