WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump is calling on pharmaceutical companies to “justify the success” of their Covid-19 drugs and vaccines, just days after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) imposed new limits on who can receive the latest shots.
In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump questioned why drugmakers haven’t released more transparent data:
“It is very important that the Drug Companies justify the success of their various Covid Drugs. Many people think they are a miracle that saved Millions of lives. Others disagree!”
The FDA last week approved updated Covid vaccines but limited eligibility to people considered at higher risk of severe illness.
CDC Leadership in Turmoil
Trump’s remarks came shortly after he fired CDC Director Susan Monarez, who refused to resign. At least four other top officials at the agency, including Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, also resigned last week.
“With CDC being ripped apart over this question, I want the answer, and I want it NOW,” Trump wrote, adding that he has seen “extraordinary” information from Pfizer that has not been shared with the public.
Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Kennedy’s Role and Operation Warp Speed
The shake-up at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention comes as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. pushes sweeping changes to U.S. health policy — including mass firings, canceling mRNA research, and dismantling a key vaccine advisory panel.
While Trump continues to promote Operation Warp Speed, the 2020 program that fast-tracked vaccines during his administration, Kennedy — a longtime vaccine skeptic — has downplayed their effectiveness.
In a New York Times guest essay, nine former CDC directors and acting directors blasted Kennedy’s actions, saying he is “endangering Americans’ health” and weakening the nation’s public health security.

Trump has demanded drug companies release more data to “clear up this MESS,” warning that lack of transparency is fueling division across government and the public.
The debate over vaccines, federal health agencies, and public trust is expected to intensify as political pressure mounts heading into the fall.
