If you turned on cable news today or scrolled social media, you’ll see the absolute fringe. They’ll show you the loudest dumbest people from the other side. You’re being shown professional lunatics that are handpicked to make you think 1 thing…the other side is insane and the enemy. Isolate a target audience then you pump them full of outrage and create a tribal us vs them mentality. This is how you radicalize a country without firing a shot. We share more in common with each other than the people leading us. They need us divided, blind and full of rage because a united sane connected public is the one thing they fear.
If debate dies, when open conversation gets replaced by suppression or intimidation, and ultimately violence, society walks into a death trap.
