NEW MILFORD, NJ — The New Milford Volunteer Fire Department responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of River Road and Milford Avenue on Saturday, August 23, 2025, just before 5 p.m.
According to officials, Chief 302 was first on scene and confirmed both vehicles were heavily damaged, but all occupants had safely exited prior to emergency crews’ arrival.
Emergency Response
Engine 34 was the first unit on scene and was directed to:

Secure the damaged vehicle’s battery

Spread Speedy Dry absorbent to contain leaking fluids and prevent them from entering nearby storm drains
The Fire Department remained on location for approximately 30 minutes while awaiting tow services to remove the vehicles.
Injuries and Outcome
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. The scene was cleared once the vehicles were safely towed.
The quick response by the New Milford Volunteer Fire Department helped ensure public safety, prevent environmental hazards, and restore traffic flow at the busy intersection.
