Valley Hospital: Message Regarding Meningitis Outbreak
As may know, the media has reported on an outbreak associated with a rare type of meningitis that may have been caused by contaminated steroid injections.
The drug under suspicion is methylprednisolone acetate, and health officials say that all patients were treated with compounded batches produced at the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Massachusetts.
The lot numbers mentioned in the news are for the compounded product and not for individual vials obtained directly from the manufacturer. Neither The Valley Hospital nor The Valley Institute for Pain use compounded steroid products, and neither The Valley Hospital nor The Valley Institute for Pain utilize the compounding Pharmacy mentioned above.
