Township of Washington , NJ – Planning to cast your vote in the upcoming General Election on November 4th? Take note! Washington Township has officially announced a change to its traditional polling location to ensure a smoother, less congested experience for voters.
Mayor Calamari has signed an agreement to move the Township’s Election Day polling site from the customary spot at Town Hall to the Bethany Community Center.
Why the Big Change? Parking and Convenience
The move comes primarily in response to upcoming construction activity and perennial traffic issues at the old location:
- Town Hall Construction: With construction set to begin soon on the new DPW facility, parking at Town Hall will be significantly limited, creating potential headaches for voters.
- Easier Access: The new location at Bethany Community Center on Pascack Road offers plenty of parking and promises much easier traffic flow. Town Hall’s Hudson Avenue location often suffered from heavy congestion on Election Day, making the voting process inconvenient.
Mayor Calamari expressed his gratitude for the swift cooperation that made the change possible: “Bethany is a great alternative… its location on Pascack Road will make getting in and out much easier.” He extended thanks to Township Clerk and Chief Administrative Election Officer Sue Witkowski, the County Board of Elections staff, and the team at the Bethany Community Center.
New Location Details and Future Plans
The Bethany Community Center will serve as the polling site for the November 4th General Election this year, and for both the Primary and General elections in the coming year. If the location proves successful, it may be established as the long-term polling location for Washington Township.
Voter Information Checklist:
