Ridgewood NJ, Rev. Dr. Arturo P. Lewis of Emmanuel Church, Ridgewood, celebrated Welcome Back Family and Friends Sunday with a sermon entitled: Faith with Works Comes Alive. This was particularly relevant as representatives from Family Promise of Bergen County were presenters at a brunch, following worship, sponsored by Women of Emmanuel.

Kate Duggan and Paul Shackford, Executive Director and President of the Board of Trustees of Family Promise of Bergen County respectively, spoke of their personal history with Family Promise and also their mission and vision for the future. Collectively, they have been involved with Family Promise for over fifty years. In 2010, The Family Promise Network of congregations was created that housed, overnight, families and their children who were experiencing homelessness. Emmanuel has been involved with this program since its inception as a Support Church for the Ridgewood United Methodist Church, Ridgewood, where Family Promise offices are located. Church members are looking forward to continuing their relationship with the organization when they open the new Family Promise Center, which will contain transitional housing units, program space and staff offices.

Emmanuel Church, which supports many mission endeavors, meets each Sunday for worship at 10:30 a.m. Located at 14 Hope Street in Ridgewood, the building is handicapped accessible.
