Ridgewood NJ, as many of our readers have read by now a large flock of aggressive turkeys are terrorizing residents of an over-55 community in the Holiday City section of Toms River.
The fact is there is now an abundance of wild turkeys throughout the state with turkeys found wherever there is suitable habitat. In South Jersey, where wild turkeys had been struggling just a few years ago, intensive restoration efforts have improved population numbers significantly.

While it is suggested that in a face-off with wild turkeys don’t hesitate to scare or threaten a bold, aggressive turkey with loud noises, swatting with a broom or water sprayed from a hose. A dog on a leash is also an effective deterrent. Turkeys that repeatedly challenge or attack people may ultimately have to be destroyed. Keep turkeys wild to avoid these consequences.
Please, let them live!!!???
And the turkeys have names! Albert, Paul, Gwenn, and Roberta
