THE RECORD
RIDGEWOOD — The Board of Education has preliminarily approved a $101 million budget for next school year that would raise taxes for the average village homeowner by nearly $200.
The proposed spending plan, which Ridgewood’s school board will submit to the county for review, includes a 2 percent local school tax levy increase.
Those who owned a home with the village’s average assessed value of $690,662 will pay $194.65 more in school taxes next year.
No one will say a word about this.
No they would rather complain about the municipal taxes and police and fire knowing that 2/3 of their property tax bill goes to the BOED. You know why that is? Because they are only here for their kids education and when that done they are out of here.
12:48 There are a good many people that stay in town long after there children finish school, we are not out of here.
I know that but we are outnumbered by voters who are only here to get the benefit of our school system and don’t mind pay these high taxes ( 2/3 of property tax bill ) then are out of here sticking us with the bill. They would rather attack the Municipal budget and by doing that decrease the services. Just a bunch of elites user with no roots in this village and that includes some members of the council and BOED.
12:48/6:02 Do you have any facts to support your statements or are you just tossing out an opinion?
Does anyone know how many students have opted-out of testing next week? It seems to be a growing movement.
Some people probably have to move due to economic circumstances… even a modest home has a bill approaching 5 figures every year… then add in those lovely college costs for hs graduates… even modest schools are very costly… then you have people on a fixed income that are getting squeezed out by the general cost of living in Ridgewood… there are a number of reasons people pull up stakes and move…
Just look at your tax bill and the breakdown. As far as moving out just look at the for sale signs that go up in June
There has been so much turnover at the BOE plus the salaries are so inflated. There also appears to be a lot of “dead wood” doing nothing but getting paid
9:16 – Flawed logic. Spring and summer are the busy season for real estate everywhere.
