Wyckoff Police Respond to Near-Drowning Incident Involving 78-Year-Old Man

WYCKOFF, NJ — A 78-year-old Wyckoff man was pulled unconscious from a backyard pool on Monday evening, July 28, prompting an emergency response from local police and first responders.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. at a home on Voorhis Avenue, according to Wyckoff Police Lt. Joseph Soto.

Immediate Response by Wyckoff Police and First Responders

Lt. Soto reported that the first officer on the scene entered the pool to remove the unresponsive man, and—alongside additional officers—immediately began life-saving resuscitation efforts.

Emergency services, including the Wyckoff Fire Department and Wyckoff Ambulance Corps, also responded swiftly to assist at the scene.

Transport to Hospital

The man was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Paramedics from Valley Hospital accompanied the transport, ensuring continued emergency care en route.

As of 9:20 p.m., the man’s medical condition had not yet been released.
