WYCKOFF, NJ – The Township of Wyckoff is mourning the loss of a devoted community leader, Committeeman and former Mayor Thomas Madigan, who passed away this weekend. The town confirmed his death in a statement released on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

In a tribute to his extensive public service, town flags have been lowered to half-staff and will remain so until the time of his burial.

A Lifetime Devoted to Wyckoff

A resident of Wyckoff for 42 years, Tom Madigan’s impact on the Bergen County community was profound and multifaceted. His dedication began decades ago and continued seamlessly across political, educational, and recreational roles.

He was first sworn in to the Wyckoff Township Committee 15 years ago, in October 2010, and was successfully re-elected just last year. During his tenure, he also served as the Mayor of Wyckoff.

Beyond the governing body, his tireless volunteerism built a legacy that touched nearly every facet of local life:

  • Education: He served 12 years as a committed member of the Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education.
  • Recreation: He brought a true community spirit to youth sports, coaching numerous teams within the township’s Recreation Department and serving on the Recreation Advisory Board.
  • Civic Service: Madigan was also an active member of the Wyckoff-Midland Park Rotary Club and a dedicated parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s Church.

Family Man and Community Pillar

The Township Committee’s statement praised his leadership, kindness, and devotion, noting that his legacy “will not be forgotten.”
