Study: Taste Of Beer Makes People Want To Drink More

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A new study says just tasting beer increases a person’s desire to get drunk.
According to CBS News , the study found that people who only tasted beer, without any effect from the alcohol itself, had dopamine, a brain neurotransmitter associated with alcohol and other abused drugs, released into the brain.
Researchers gave 49 men two scans, one when they tasted beer and one when they tasted Gatorade, which looked for evidence of a dopamine increase.
According to the study, researchers found that there were increased levels of dopamine when the men drank beer and also a significant increase in dopamine activity with participants who’s families had a history of alcoholism.

To drink more does not mean you are going to drink until drunk, this is one stupid story.

Of course! Beer vs. sickingly sweet (performance enhancing?) gatorade. All I know is my beer drinking buddies would annihilate the gatorade drinking track stars in pick up bball games in college. Ever hear of Pavlov’s dogs? I am a long time home brewer who has converted finicky vinoites to the sudsy nectar (they ask for refills). Beer was a factor in the landing at Plymouth Rock & IPA-India Pale Ale-(higher ABV & hops for anti-spoilage) kept the British soldiers alive (& quite happy) on their long sea voyage to India (I believe 1 gal per sailor per diem-anti-scurvy too-vitamin C). Again another stupid, uninformed & pointless article is posted. So a slight taste of beer leads to achoholism…….OMG!
