LINKER: AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS SUPPORTED BY BOB MENENDEZ WILL DESTROY MORE AMERICAN JOBS

(Ridgewood, NJ): Today, conservative Republican U.S. Senate candidate from New Jersey Ian Linker again blasted Sen. Robert Menendez’s (D-NJ) sponsorship of legislation that grants amnesty to illegal aliens.  If this new legislation passes, it would grant amnesty to 11 million illegal immigrants.

“New Jersey has a real illegal immigration problem. With 550,000 illegal aliens in New Jersey, we have the fifth highest illegal immigrant population among the states and the third largest number of illegal immigrants in the work force,” Linker said.

“Put simply, illegal aliens take jobs away from New Jerseyans who are here legally creating higher unemployment. Granting illegals amnesty as Bob Menendez proposes will cost hardworking Americans dearly. With 9.1% unemployment nationally and 9.4% unemployment in the Garden State, granting illegals amnesty will put more Americans and New Jerseyans out of work.”

“What we see from Menendez on illegal immigration is at least consistent with his views on other issues. Menendez and his Democratic colleagues will continue to bury their heads in the sand on jobs and kick our economic problems down the road just to further their progressive job-killing agenda,” Linker added.

“We need real leadership and courage on immigration reform. This is where Bob Menendez’s proposals fall short – way short. Real reform starts with enforcing the laws we currently have on the books. We then need to secure our borders. We need to hold employers to account for employing illegal immigrants and should encourage all the states to adopt E-verify. We need to make it easier to obtain citizenship for folks who come here legally so people have a greater incentive to obey the law. And we need to remove the incentives we have at all levels of government for people to come here illegally.” Linker explained.

N.J. to allow testing of police for steroids

A new state strategy unveiled Thursday to combat illegal steroid use by New Jersey police allows departments to test officers for steroids, but falls short of more drastic action taken in other parts of the country.

Flanked by prosecutors, police chiefs and medical officials, Attorney General Paula T. Dow listed a multi-tiered strategy for curbing misuse and improper prescribing of anabolic steroids and other muscle-building drugs, a problem that has cost taxpayers millions of dollars and jeopardized the community’s trust in law enforcement. In Bergen, GOP freeholder candidates counter-attack Ganz over pay-to-play ordinance history
Bergen County Republican freeholder candidates Joel Brizzi and Anthony Rottino today went after Freeholder David Ganz, calling him a hypocrite for craving tighter pay to play laws after benefiting from the largesse of “one of the most notorious political fundraising machines in New Jersey history.”   A three-term freeholder up for re-election this year, Ganz swung back at the GOP, saying he is, in fact, the proud author of a tough, six-year-old, pay-to-play ordinance. >40th District Towns to Receive Increased School Aid

July 07, 2011 -Senator Kevin O’Toole is happy to announce that local school districts will receive increased school aid for the 2011-2012 school year.

Senator O’Toole worked closely with the Christie Administration in an effort to gain a fairer share of school aid dollars in the final state budget signed by the Governor.

“School children and property taxpayers are the primary beneficiaries of the Governor’s decision to dedicate additional state revenue to school aid for suburban communities,” said Senator O’Toole “I’m pleased that Governor Christie worked with us over the past several months to dedicate additional state revenues to school aid for suburban communities. By making tough choices and using an unexpected bump in state revenues wisely, we were able not only to increase aid over last year, but to double the rate of increase that was originally proposed in March.”

School aid for communities in the 40th District will be allocated as follows:

District State Aid FY ’11 State Aid FY ’12 $ Increase % Increase

Ridgewood Village $0 $1,698,850 $1,698,850

READER: Ridgewood BOE and Fishbein misrepresented the delivery of state grants in order to push through their pet projects

>READER: Ridgewood BOE and Fishbein misrepresented the delivery of state grants in order to push through their pet projects

What a shocker. Ridgewood BOE and Fishbein misrepresented the delivery of state grants in order to push through their pet projects and get the town to vote on the yes on the bond.

I even seem to remember Fishbein and Lenhard guaranteeing that the grants would not be held up in spite of the economic uncertainty of the state.

IT IS TIME TO FIRE FISHBEIN and vote no-confidence in Lenhard & Brogan and get them out of there. I would rather have the state takeover the school system that let these useless fools continue to run our school system into the poor house and put a drain on the taxpayers in the community.

Just to be note, I am not against spending money to ensure the future success of our children. However, money needs to be spent wisely and have a strong and provable return on investment. Turf fields that need replacement and continuous maintenance (b/c they were idiotically built in a flood zone) does not represent wise spending. The return on investment does come close to breaking even as not nearly enough of the student population benefits.

>White House Staffers Got a Raise Last Year, And You Did Not

>White House Staffers Got a Raise Last Year, And You Did Not

John Cook — The White House released its annual salary report last week, and as usual, it’s nice to work for Barack Obama: Most staffers who were there for more than a year got a salary bump. A bigger one than you did.

The last time we checked in on White House salaries, we found that an astonishing 75% of continuing staffers got raises from 2009 to 2010—a huge number given the fact that, according to compensation experts, most companies had skipped routine raises that year in reaction to the economic crisis that the White House was busy failing to solve. This time around—from 2010 to 2011—the ratio is a little less dramatic. Of the 270 White House staffers who have been there for more than a year, 146—or 54%—received raises. The average salary increase was 8%. If you look at only staffers who got raises, the average increase was twice that.

>Higher taxes yield to budget cuts in states

Forty-six states began a new fiscal year Friday after lawmakers spent the spring hashing out budgets that largely avoid big tax increases in favor of budget cuts and curbs on pay and benefits for public employees.
While budget woes continued to dominate statehouses, issues such as abortion, immigration and voter identification also drove legislative action. And lawmakers continued to wrestle with soaring state obligations to help fund Medicaid, which pays for health care for low-income Americans. (Eaton and Maher, The Wall Street Journal)

Despite modest projected economic effects, proposed “free trade” deals with South Korea, Panama and Colombia have generated heated comments and political hijinks.

In New Jersey, the largest deal, the long-delayed pact with South Korea, has produced the largest public relations push. In part, that reflects efforts by Prudential Financial, a major player in insurance. (Tyrrell, New Jersey Newsroom)

The New Jersey Supreme Court denied an appeal Wednesday that could have derailed Hackensack University Medical Center’s plans to re-open Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood as a 128-bed community hospital, officials said.

The court’s decision not to hear the appeal — effectively upholding a lower court’s earlier denial — means that the last remaining legal hurdle has been removed for HUMC to apply for state approval for the hospital, said Robert C. Garrett, the medical center’ s president.
