LINKER: AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS SUPPORTED BY BOB MENENDEZ WILL DESTROY MORE AMERICAN JOBS

(Ridgewood, NJ): Today, conservative Republican U.S. Senate candidate from New Jersey Ian Linker again blasted Sen. Robert Menendez’s (D-NJ) sponsorship of legislation that grants amnesty to illegal aliens.  If this new legislation passes, it would grant amnesty to 11 million illegal immigrants.

“New Jersey has a real illegal immigration problem. With 550,000 illegal aliens in New Jersey, we have the fifth highest illegal immigrant population among the states and the third largest number of illegal immigrants in the work force,” Linker said.

“Put simply, illegal aliens take jobs away from New Jerseyans who are here legally creating higher unemployment. Granting illegals amnesty as Bob Menendez proposes will cost hardworking Americans dearly. With 9.1% unemployment nationally and 9.4% unemployment in the Garden State, granting illegals amnesty will put more Americans and New Jerseyans out of work.”

“What we see from Menendez on illegal immigration is at least consistent with his views on other issues. Menendez and his Democratic colleagues will continue to bury their heads in the sand on jobs and kick our economic problems down the road just to further their progressive job-killing agenda,” Linker added.

“We need real leadership and courage on immigration reform. This is where Bob Menendez’s proposals fall short – way short. Real reform starts with enforcing the laws we currently have on the books. We then need to secure our borders. We need to hold employers to account for employing illegal immigrants and should encourage all the states to adopt E-verify. We need to make it easier to obtain citizenship for folks who come here legally so people have a greater incentive to obey the law. And we need to remove the incentives we have at all levels of government for people to come here illegally.” Linker explained.
