ANOTHER OBAMA FAIRY TALE TURNS TO DUST: CBO CONFIRMS $24 BILLION LOSS ON BAILOUTS
By: John Hayward
10/16/2012 09:22 AM

According to CNS News, Barack Obama is still running around and claiming “we got back every dime we used to rescue the financial system.” Like so many other Obama and Biden statements, that is absolutely false:

The Congressional Budget Office–based on figures from Obama’s own Office of Management and Budget—gives a different assessment.

“The cost to the federal government of the TARP’s transactions (also referred to as the subsidy cost), including grants for mortgage programs that have not yet been made, will amount to $24 billion,” said the CBO report, which was released on the same day Obama spoke.

TARP is the Troubled Asset Relief Program – the formal name of the government’s financial bailout program passed in October 2008.

CBO said that the cost of TARP “stems largely from assistance to American International Group (AIG), aid to the automotive industry, and grant programs aimed at avoiding home mortgage foreclosures,” noting that the losses will be so large they will eclipse the financial gains the government will realize from bailing out other large financial institutions.

In fact, CBO reported that as of now $65 billion in TARP funds remain outstanding.

Sen. Robert Menendez does not seem to know if the US Senate has voted on a budget or not
October 15,2012
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Aug 11, 2012 marked the 1,200th day since the Democratic-controlled Senate last adopted a proper budget. Yet our distinguished Senator Robert Menendez said that is incorrect citing the Budget Control Act, claiming that in fact the Senate had voted on a budget .

His Republican U.S. Senate challenger Joe Kyrillos has been hitting Senator Menendez over and over saying he hasn’t been doing his job when it comes to passing a budget in the U.S. Senate.

According to the Star ledger the Act set limits on discretionary spending, but it is missing other features of a “budget resolution,” which is considered a budget plan under the official congressional budget process. The Senate hasn’t passed such a plan in more than three years. Making Senator Menendez claim entirely false.

Perhaps thats one why trillion dollar deficits go unnoticed by the US Senate?

Additional upgrades for Habernickel Family Park planned

THE RIDGEWOOD NEWS

Residents who visit Irene Habernickel Family Park will notice a difference at the former horse farm over the course of the next year.

Changes to the aesthetics and comforts are currently being planned and will likely, village officials hope, come at little or no cost to Ridgewood taxpayers.

Ridgewood officials applied for a Bergen County block grant of $90,000 to help offset the expense of installing proposed ADA accessible restroom facilities.

Village staff had previously prepared preliminary designs for the new restrooms, which will be built at the former horse barn structure. At the least, a basic and rudimentary sketch is required with the application submission, Village Manager Ken Gabbert said, though a more concrete plan will be expected.

The plans also call for new entry ramps leading into the horse barn.

“At this point, we just want to get something into the mix and go forward with the block grant application,” Gabbert said.

Applications for 2013 Community Development Block Grants were to be filed with the county by Oct. 5, according to the Bergen County website.

For Every Person Added to Labor Force, 10 Added to Those Not in Labor Force

For Every Person Added to Labor Force, 10 Added to Those Not in Labor Force
1:09 PM, OCT 15, 2012 • BY DANIEL HALPER

A new chart from the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee details the fact that, since January 2009, for every person added to the labor force, 10 have been added to those not in the labor force. Here’s a chart showing the dwindling labor force:

16.img assist custom 640x465
“For Every 1 Person Added To Labor Force Since January 2009,” the chart reads, “10 People Added To Those Not In Labor Force.”

That is, in nearly the four years, since President Obama took office in January 2009, only 827,000 people have been added to the labor force, while during that same time period, 8,208,000 have been added to those not in the labor force.

FDA: Injectible drugs from Mass. facility suspect
By the CNN Wire Staff
updated 3:58 PM EDT, Mon October 15, 2012

(CNN) — More issues have been reported with drugs from a Massachusetts compounding pharmacy linked to a deadly multistate outbreak of fungal meningitis, federal officials said Monday.

Fifteen people have died from the non-contagious meningitis associated with injections of a contaminated steroid produced by the New England Compounding Center.

As part of the ongoing investigation into the center, a patient with possible meningitis has been identified who received injection of another NECC product, triamcinolone acetonide, the Food and Drug Administration said.

And fungus infections from Aspergillis, one fungus linked to the meningitis outbreak, were reported in two transplant patients who received cardioplegic solution from NECC, the FDA said. Cardioplegic solution is used to induce paralysis of the heart during open-heart surgery.

The other fungus linked to the meningitis outbreak is Exserohilum, which the CDC says may not be easily detectable. A patient with a negative fungal test is not in the clear, officials have said.

New Threats to Riot if Obama Loses Election

Buzz explodes across web
Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com
October 15, 2012

Despite the issue receiving national media attention, Obama supporters continue to threaten to riot if Mitt Romney wins the presidential election, raising the prospect of civil unrest if Obama fails to secure a second term.

The new threats continue to dominate Twitter and the vast majority make no reference to press coverage of the issue over the last week, illustrating the fact that they are a legitimate expression of how many Obama voters plan to respond if Romney comes out on top, and not merely a reaction to media hype.

Study: Less Than A Quarter Of Americans Read Newspapers

Study: Less Than A Quarter Of Americans Read Newspapers
October 15, 2012 4:34 AM

HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) –

Only 29 percent of Americans now say they read a newspaper yesterday – with just 23 percent reading a print newspaper. Over the past decade, the percentage reading a print newspaper the previous day has fallen by 18 points (from 41 percent to 23 percent). Somewhat more (38 percent) say they regularly read a daily newspaper, although this percentage also has declined, from 54 percent in 2004.

Also according to the recent Pew Research Center poll, Americans enjoy reading as much as ever – 51 percent say they enjoy reading a lot. This is little changed over the past two decades, but a declining proportion gets news or reads other material on paper on a typical day. Many readers are now shifting to digital platforms to read the papers.

Craft distillers ask state to repeal Prohibition-era laws

Craft distillers ask state to repeal Prohibition-era laws

The owner of New Jersey’s largest estate winery would like to do it. So would the mayor of Princeton Township. But so far, the only person to open a distillery in post-Prohibition New Jersey is James Yoakum. The 27-year-old Philadelphia real estate broker is waiting final approval to start legally making his Petty’s Island Rum and other spirits in a former garage in downtown Camden.

As a one-man operation that will at first produce no more than 2,500 gallons of liquor annually, Yoakum’s Cooper River Distillers falls well within the bounds of a “craft distillery,” according to a working definition adopted by The American Distilling Institute (TADI), the nation’s leading proponent for small-batch distilling.   (Nurin, NJ Spotlight)

Election Day : Romney camp says Bergen is lax on ballots

Elections Day : Romney camp says Bergen is lax on ballots

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s team of ballot watchdogs complained to Bergen County clerk’s officials last week that they failed to email absentee ballots to overseas military personnel before the Sept. 22 deadline.

Bergen County Clerk John S. Hogan, a Democrat, and other officials disputed the claim, and asserted that they complied with the law a day ahead of schedule.

The Romney campaign summarized its complaint in an Oct 5 letter to Hogan, demanding that “you do everything in your power to correct your violations of military voting rights,” wrote Anthony Principi, a former U.S. secretary of Veterans Affairs working with the Romney campaign.

County officials are required under federal law to mail out ballots — to overseas members who request them — at least 45 days before the election. They can request paper ballots or have them sent by email.  (Stile, The Record)
