Roofers union calls for Obamacare’s repeal
April 16, 2013 | 5:31 pm | Modified: April 16, 2013 at 6:00 pm

The United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers isreportedly the first union to officially call for repeal of the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. The health care law is prompting some serious buyer’s remorse in Big Labor, which worked hard on behalf of the administration to pass it:

The union’s statement can be found here. The full text is below:

The union’s statement can be found here. The full text is below:

United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers International President Kinsey M. Robinson issued the following statement today calling for a repeal or complete reform of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act (ACA):

“Our Union and its members have supported President Obama and his Administration for both of his terms in office.

But regrettably, our concerns over certain provisions in the ACA have not been addressed, or in some instances, totally ignored. In the rush to achieve its passage, many of the Act’s provisions were not fully conceived, resulting in unintended consequences that are inconsistent with the promise that those who were satisfied with their employer sponsored coverage could keep it.

These provisions jeopardize our multi-employer health plans, have the potential to cause a loss of work for our members, create an unfair bidding advantage for those contractors who do not provide health coverage to their workers, and in the worst case, may cause our members and their families to lose the benefits they currently enjoy as participants in multi-employer health plans.

For decades, our multi-employer health and welfare plans have provided the necessary medical coverage for our members and their families to protect them in times of illness and medical needs. This collaboration between labor and management has been a model of success that should be emulated rather than ignored. I refuse to remain silent, or idly watch as the ACA destroys those protections.

I am therefore calling for repeal or complete reform of the Affordable Care Act to protect our employers, our industry, and our most important asset: our members and their families.”

Neighboring Glen Rock smart phones receiving unwanted porn

The Record

GLEN ROCK — Unsolicited pornographic images popped up on the smart phones of several borough residents earlier this week, prompting police to issue a warning.

Detective James Calaski said on Wednesday that the department fielded calls from school district officials after several students reported receiving the image — depicting adults engaged in a sexual activity.

The image — sent anonymously through the popular phone app SnapChat — was also received by a number of residents who called police.

“We told people they were one of many people who were getting these messages,” Calaski said.

In a warning released through the department’s Facebook page on Tuesday, police said other area departments were getting calls about the picture and that the image “appears to be some sort of spam message.” The Glen Rock police are advising anyone who receives such messages not to open them and delete them.”

The warning further discussed the “potential dangers of using adult-oriented apps like SnapChat.”

Ridgewood Police Issue Crime Prevention SCAM ALERT
April 17,2013

Ridgewood NJ, Over the past week, several residents of surrounding towns have fallen victim to “The Grandparent Scam”. In both cases, the victims received a telephone call from someone they believed to be their grandchild. The first caller claimed to have been involved in a car accident and arrested in Mexico and needed $1,700 for bail. The grandfather sent the money via Western Union to an address in Mexico. After sending the money, the victim was able to make contact with his grandson and learned that he was never arrested in Mexico.

The other call was from a “grandson” who stated that he was in Haiti for a charity project for his school. He claimed to have been arrested and needed money for bail. That particular victim sent more than $5,800.00 only to find out that his grandson was at his college in Florida and never arrested in Haiti. The callers in these scams are very believable and are very good at convincing the victim that they are their grandchild. For more information on this, visit the FBI website at https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2012/april/grandparent_040212

A new “PSE&G Payment Scam” has emerged this year. An individual claiming to be from PSE&G calls customers and tells them that their services will be disconnected if they do not make a payment using a MoneyPak card. The scammer will then transfer the funds to a prepaid card and withdraw cash at an ATM. PSE&G will never demand that accounts be paid with MoneyPak cards. For more information on this scam, go to https://www.pseg.com/info/media/newsreleases/2013/2013-02-13.jsp
If you believe you have been the victim of a scam or had someone attempt to victimize you, please report this to your local police department. Additionally please take the time to discuss these scams with your friends and relatives, especially those who may not have access to e-mail.

No Arrest Made in Bombing Investigation
FBI Boston April 17, 2013
Special Agent Greg Comcowich (617) 223-6110

Contrary to widespread reporting, no arrest has been made in connection with the Boston Marathon attack. Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate. Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting.

Ridgewood NJ , Members of the Bergen County Police Department’s (BCPD) Bomb Squad Unit were called to the Ridgewood Wild Duck Pond Area just before 1 PM on Wednesday in response to a 911 report of a suspicious package contained in a wire mesh trash can near a heavily used playground area.

Ridgewood PD units, under the direct, on-site command of Chief John Ward, closed the main entrance to the park and evacuated all persons in and near the playground area until the package was determined to be safe by means of portable x-ray equipment.  Several Patrol Division units from BCPD were also on the scene.  The area was cleared for public use at approximately 1:45 PM.

Reader Says Dear Senator Menedez I wish we could be thanking you for supporting my Constitutional Rights

Dear Senator Menedez:

I wish we could be thanking you for supporting my Constitutional Rights rather than expressing my dismay at your joining with 45 other Democrat Senators in attempting to grant the UN authority under the United Nations  Arms Trade Treaty. This treaty would have put restrictions on Americans and their Constitutional Rights under the 2nd Amendment as well as possibly allowing the UN the power to develop an international gun registry. You, Sir, have the responsibility of protecting the rights of the citizens of the United States and in particular, we of New Jersey!

We are extremely thankful that the Democratic Party failed in abrogating our rights to a foreign power. You need to review your oath of office regarding your responsibility in defending the Constitution of the United States! In my opinion, all of you have been derelict in that performance and if I could, charges of impeachment or at least dereliction of duty  should be filed against all of you. Please feel free to share with me the thought process that culminated in your decision to vote against the ban. We are thankful that not all Democrats voted with their Party.

Sincerely,

Joseph and Claire Kayal
