While “high taxes” and “opioid crisis” where the key issues, residents voted in overwhelming numbers for the person or persons who promised to raise taxes on everything and create a sanctuary state. From yesterday results it does appear the state has committed fiscal suicide .
So Murphy gets 17% more votes than Guadagno in Ridgewood. I just can’t understand for the life of me how people who have a great town (compared to many other areas in NJ) vote so overwhelmingly for someone who promises to basically turn NJ upside down with the sanctuary and “fairer state” promises!!!! I mean this guy basically says I will raise your taxes, I will surround you with illegal emigrants and low income people and I will make you pay for them and in the process I will lower your property value and badly damage your quality of life. How do you vote for him????? How can white, rich people who make their $$$$ in capitalism vote for a socialist?? I understand his promises are very appealing to Paterson, Jersey City, Elizabeth, Clifton etc. but I just don’t get where the appeal is for Ridgewood?? I know many voted against Christie but Christie wasn’t even on the ballot.
Anybody cares to chip in? I am speechless.
You do understand that Phil Murphy is as white and capitalist as they come right? An Irish Catholic from Boston who was high up at Goldman after he went to Harvard and Wharton.
That is not why I voted for him though. I am always willing to pay a little more as long as there are children in this state going to bed hungry every night.

My take on Murphy and why I voted for him is that he will lower taxes , attempt to keep Medicare for seniors, lower taxes by taxing wealthy higher rates than paying now. A sanctuary state as far as I understand it, is to let immigrants live here in available affordable housing units. For example if there are X number of housing units at the Dayton some of them could be for immigrants. As far as I understand it, those immigrants would have to be working and pay the affordable housing rent. I don’t think anyone plans to take in anyone without having people take jobs. Some immigrants are educated and can hold high level jobs. I suppose for example if they were physicians in Syria lets say, they would have to pass medical boards here. I am not afraid of immigrants and the way they are brought in, I trust they are vetted. I am the grandchild of an immigrants and I am KOSHER.

How is Murphy better than Guadagno or Christie with regards to poverty? Do you really think handouts work well for the poor? You have never tasted socialism. I come from such a country and it sucks, BADLY. I hope you or your kids don’t get to see it for yourself. You can’t erase poverty by forcefully taking $$ from one side and giving it to the poorer side. Doesn’t work. It only makes it worse for both sides and in the end nobody is better off. By the time you realize it didn’t work all has gone to ruins. To me it seems like people are bored with what they have and want to experiment. Good luck with that.
4:04 – You are so wrong (sadly). Paul Aronsohn is alive and well and working behind the scenes. Take a good look at Jeff Voigt. He has strings attached to him and they are being pulled by Aronsohn. When his mouth opens, out spills the words of Aronsohn. Wait until the Council elections in the spring of 2018. Aronsohn will not be seen, but he will be heard.

The depth and breath of the ignorance (as in misinformed or unknowledgeable- not “stupid”) expressed by the Murphy voters in this town is breathtaking. Sadly, this is not surprising. Let’s not forget that Ridgewood was one of only two (2) towns in Bergen county to vote for Obama over Hillary in the Democrat primary of 2008.

It seems that we change the state CONSTITUTION on a whim every year. What is the point of having a constitution if it is being modified regularly at the ballot box to implement a pet agenda and bypass the legislative process?

It’s no wonder that NJ is the butt of jokes worldwide.

If the cocktail set of Ridgewood really want things like diversity, then move to a place that’s really diverse. They won’t. They probably have a nice neighbor who is from somewhere like India or Venezuela. I’m sure that they are lovely people. Yes, those lovely people are probably dentists or Wall St professionals. Makes you feel good, right. I bet you make sure that they get invited to your parties so that you can show off your new diverse friends. You probably openly support sanctuary cities and open borders. Why not. It sounds great. The reality is that your view of diversity is not real. Your family’s jobs are not being taken by diversity of the illegal immigrant kind. Your leafy streets are not going to see the rise in crime that comes from having the real influx of diverse families.
Want diversity? Move to Passaic.
