23 lbs. of Marijuana Seized in Drug Arrest in Fort Lee Man

Fort Lee NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MARC A. HELEWA (DOB: 12/29/98; single; unemployed) of 100 Park Avenue, Apt. 2607, Fort Lee, NJ on drug offenses. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

During a narcotics investigation conducted by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (“BCPO”) Narcotics Task Force, MARC A. HELEWA was identified as a distributor of large quantities of Controlled Dangerous Substances within Bergen County. On Thursday, April 8, 2021, as a result of conducting a motor vehicle stop on HELEWA’S vehicle at the Edgewater Commons in Edgewater, the detectives executed search warrants on HELEWA’s vehicle, his residence at 100 Park Avenue, Apt. 2607, Fort Lee, NJ and a garage he utilized at 354 Undercliff Avenue, Edgewater, NJ. These searches resulted in the seizure of approximately 23 lbs. of marijuana, numerous THC edibles and THC vape cartridges, as well as $7,021.00 in U.S. Currency. The estimated street value of the Controlled Dangerous Substances seized is $60,000.00.

MARC A. HELEWA was charged with one count of Possession With The Intent To Distribute Marijuana, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(10)b, a 2nd degree crime; one count of Possession With The Intent To Distribute Hash Oil, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(11), a 3rd degree crime; and one count of Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:36-3, a 4th degree crime. HELEWA was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Fort Lee Police Department, the Edgewater Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.

Are you serious he was arrested for marijuana which is currently in the process of being legalized obviously Fort Lee Police Department really doesn’t have much to do instead of putting that man power On catching real drug dealers like crack cocaine and heroin that you have a lot of junkies in Fort Lee

  2. Yea the state of NJ is just upset that they are losing out on revenue for a legal product that they want to control the finances with, because the government always wants to control the money so they can control your life.
    If the state is so worried that they are losing tax revenue from the product they legalized then charge the guy, DO NOT make us tax payers pay up for this by keeping him incarcerated since he clearly is not a threat to society.
    People need to wake up.
