Child Hit by Car in Crosswalk on Plaza Road in Fair Lawn

Fair Lawn NJ, just days after the Ridgewood blog reported the Fair Lawn police launch a major enforcement effort ticketing Cars that fail to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk, 3-year-old child was hit by a car and thrown 10 feet while crossing Fair Lawn Avenue with her mother on Monday afternoon.

According to Police ,the girl was struck while walking hand-in-hand behind her mother on Plaza Road and Fair Lawn Avenue.The mother and daughter, who are Fair Lawn residents, were in the crosswalk when a 2019 Chevy driven by a 79-year-old Ridgewood woman made a left turn from Fair Lawn Avenue west onto Plaza Road, police said.

The child was thrown approximately 10 feet across the road. Police said there were no obvious injuries to the child, but she and her mother were taken by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center for an evaluation.

According to police the driver received summonses for making an improper turn, failure to stop for a pedestrian in the crosswalk and failure to have a driver’s license.
