A paradigm shift is expected to be witnessed in the way workplaces operate over the next 15 years, making nearly 50 per cent of occupations existing today redundant by 2025, a report has said.
Artificial intelligence will transform businesses and the work that people do. Process work, customer work and vast swathes of middle management will simply disappear, it said.
The report titled ‘Fast Forward 2030: The Future of Work and the Workplace’ has been prepared by realty consulting firm CBRE and China-based Genesis, a property developer, after interviewing 220 experts, business leaders and young people from Asia, Europe and North America.
“Nearly 50 per cent of occupations today will no longer exist in 2025. New jobs will require creative intelligence, social and emotional intelligence and ability to leverage artificial intelligence. Those jobs will be immensely more fulfilling than today’s jobs,” the report said.

This is going on right now. By far the biggest factor to deal with are the many barely-educated types that, in the past, have always been able to make a living in physical labor work. You can create all the programs you want and tell people until you’re blue in the face about the need to adapt, but in many cases, it’s futile. The wealth gap will continue to grow and one way or another, those at the lower end will adapt to ways to survival.
Yes, and the term ” paradigm shift” will no longer exist because in 2015 people realized it’s the stupidest term known to man. Along with PS the terms “take away”
“Low hanging fruit” and “sea change” have also been removed from the human lexicon.
While I agree that these cool buzz words are really annoying, it doesn’t change the fact that we have been experiencing wide-scale workplace changes for some time now due to technology and robotics. The changes have mostly affected labor-intensive jobs so far, but we are already seeing changes in white collar work where smart programming and algorithms can basically do what humans do.
Going back to the buzz words, I can’t tell you how many assholes in the corporate world I’ve met who have dazzled and got ahead due to their use of the latest buzz word that they were able to use before the words became stale.
No more local video stores to rent movies.
No more travel agencies.
No more blockbuster stores.
I’d expect soon you will see fully automated fast food restaurants that take the order electronically, prepare the food, and accept the credit card or cash (thanks to Barry raising the min wage for the dummies)
Its progress whether you like it or not.
The sad part is, we lost all ability to manufacture ANYTHING and China just steals every trade secret when they make our products.
Innovation comes when you build things, and create a better mouse trap.
Since China has all of that, we are uck-fayed.
Major in algorithm!

Ameritrade and others have put a dent in the earnings of stockbrokers.
Most major stock market trades are computer driven, so those math wizards make the big bucks, not smart investors.
