Trenton NJ,  according to State Sen. Bob Smith, D-Middlesex, water pipelines across the state are old, they’re decaying, they pose a serious health risk and the issue is getting worse.

“There is a big problem and it is a problem that affects your health, your kid’s health and your grandchildren’s health,” Smith said.

He has introduced legislation that would impose a 10-cent tax on every 1,000 gallons consumed, which Smith estimates would cost the average New Jersey household about $32 a year and would net the state about $150 million annually.

According to Smith  the proposal being submitted is not actually a tax and  he is marketing it as “user fee” even though you already get a water bill.

A “user fee” would be a flat rate. He wants 10 cents per 1,000 gallons so it functions more like a tax than a fee like getting a driver’s license.

  1. Another Democratic Tax. Keep voting these people in. Next they will want to put a user fee tax on toilet paper. Ridgewood Water is already out of control now the state is getting involved.

  2. No, not on toilet paper. You can bet your bottom dollar the Democrats will tax your breathing. They will put a clean the air tax on all NJ residents tax bill and it will be high. Probably into the hundreds per year.

Age Friendly Ridgewood is in name only. I as a senior citizen on fixed income can no longer make ends meet. Most seniors will have to leave.

THAT is why parents leave when kids graduate. Money doesn’t grow on trees.hat is the wise choice , leave before you become a count your pennies senior like I am. My God 75 cents for parking in CBD and Hache says to dig a little deeper. Everything is going up except my fixed income.

Shop locally , eat in Ridgewood restaurants, Hache says.

Right now I have to carefully budget for groceries at the super market. My out of state family says I should not be living in Ridgewood. That is the truth.

This town is no place for old seniors. Unless they are rich.

  3. keep voting these fascists into office, comrade and you get what you deserve.
