Ridgewood NJ, In a joint decision, the Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration Committee and the Village of Ridgewood announced today that they will host the 111th annual Fourth of July Celebration on Monday, July 5th with events to include a flag raising and parade.

This year’s parade theme is “Stronger Together.” While the day’s events always celebrate the history of this great nation, this year’s theme aims to also recognize and reflect on the strength, resilience, and unity of our community throughout the challenges of the past 15 months. The theme also serves as the basis for the highly anticipated float competition held among the town’s elementary schools.
“We are so excited to be hosting a parade in 2021,” said Committee President Tara Masterson. “It is such a great tradition in the Village, and we can’t wait to see everyone, and this year’s float entries.”

There will be no evening entertainment or fireworks in 2021. The committee plans to resume hosting that portion of the day’s events in 2022. Below are the dates and times for scheduled events:
 Flag Raising: Monday, July 5 at 9am in Wilsey Square
 Parade: Monday, July 5, step off at 10am from corner of Monroe and Godwin

“We are incredibly grateful to the community for their continued support of the Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration” said Masterson. “Many residents do not realize the day’s events are completed funded by private donations and planned by an all-volunteer committee. The best way to help ensure our tradition continues is to make a donation or volunteer.”

The Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration is organized by the Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration, Inc., an all-volunteer, non-profit community group. The Ridgewood tradition began in 1910 when the local papers, the civic section of the Woman’s Club and the Ridgewood Fire Department joined forces to create a “safe and sane” holiday with an emphasis on Patriotism. All aspects of the day’s events, including parade, fireworks, bands, evening performers, insurance, and police and fire personnel are funded by voluntary contributions from businesses and individuals.
