Trenton NJ, Senator Michael Testa posted the following critique of the Governor’s 2022 State of the State Address:
” I just finished watching the Governor’s 2022 State of the State Address, while there are many, here are a few main takeaways I have:
The Governor has re-declared a “Public Health Emergency” and mentioned that he did so in “consultation with my partners in the Legislature.”
I am unsure which partners the Governor has consulted with, as all of our Republican members have been sidelined from any decisions made by the Governor for nearly two years.
Governor Murphy mentioned that we, “have greater tax fairness.”Fairness for who?! Under this Governor and his policies, we have only grown weaker and poorer. He stated, “small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we’re keeping that backbone strong.”
That is an unbelievable statement coming from a man whose policies permanently shut the doors of one third of small businesses in our state.
Finally, Governor Murphy stated, “Let’s pledge to put the needs of every New Jerseyan before the wants of our party or any single person in it.”
He’s right, but this even includes him! The Legislature and the Governor NEED to work together, which is the oath he assumed when he took office.
Let’s work to reclaim the Legislature’s power in 2022 and beyond to put the needs of every New Jerseyan first, as it was intended.”
Governor A$$hole.
