Upon arrival members quickly realized this was more than just a routine medical call. They used four gas meters and found 200ppm carbon monoxide readings inside the residence. They evacuated residents to the exterior and called for additional resources. HUMC ALS and BLS arrived on scene to treat and transport 4 occupants to Hackensack University Medical Center.
PSE&G gas responded along with city building department, health department and fire prevention. Investigation revealed a clogged chimney caused the natural gas boiler to vent CO to the interior of the residence. Boiler was shut down along with natural gas supply, PSE&G red tagged the boiler and building department red tagged the structure.
